JINDABYNE 2024

I set myself a challenge. Drive to the NSW alpine region and use an old digital camera as my main ‘shooter’. A canon powershot SX 10.

The township of Jindabyne is situated on the traditional lands of the Ngarigo, Walgalu and Southern Ngunnawal peoples. The lake is a wonderful, mesmerising presence, drawing me in, day after day.

I wanted to shake off this idea that the gear matters. However, the gear does matter and if I return to the extraordinary region again, I will pack differently on the camera front.

This lovely old powershot delivered well though. And I enjoyed playing with it greatly. The trip was nostalgic for my travel partner and I. We’d been here and had a relationship to this region most of our lives. Now our parents are no longer here, we still carry the legacy of their passion for road travel within us. And for this region.
