It was a perfect mix—night and rain. With a special event on in town I thought it might also have some additional energy or interesting textures on the main street. Often, Clare has quite empty streets at night. Not on this night. There were huge crowds weaving along the streets, and across the roads. Like conga lines of people in party wear. There were long queues of hungry patrons lined up the street awaiting entry to the pubs and restaurants. And I was unprepared. Traffic was heavy, many intoxicated people were veering all over the road and I was attempting to navigate this, and hold my camera steady. And I failed to do so.
So, this is a collection of sub par photographs. Yet … they do capture the sense of disorientation I felt. The chaos. Buses carting party goers. And yet, tiny pockets of calm were found. My goal is to build a collection of images that document life in this town across the year or so I have lived here. The non-tourist aesthetic of the everyday life here.
