WINTER ROADS 2024

I love winter. The look and feel of this season. And, I love being on the road. I was brought up by parents who did a lot of road travel acoss this country. My parents are gone now, but my sister and I regularly pack up and go somewhere. These images are not about beautiful scenery, though I see a lot of it on my travels. Here I am trying to capture something of the quality of those long black lines of tarmac that hug the ground and carry us deeper and deeper into an adventure, or away from something (or someone). Our roads are long in this country. We can spend hours on them. I don’t know, they invite you to begin something. They promise to take you somewhere new. And in winter they bring a sense of foreboding and atmosphere as fog descends or chill bites and sinks its teeth in deep.
